Finally!

I finally managed to get my pictures off my camera and uploaded! More details on my blog.

It came today! Yea!!

Yea! I was a little worried about my package because I was out of town for two weeks and they claimed there was no package for me at the post office. But, there it was waiting for me today when I got home from work. Lovely Gina from Hawaii sent Merlin the Cat Yarns' Superwash sock yarn in Ravenclaw colors, some really cute pins, stitchmarkers, one of those keychain sock blockers with a pattern as well as yummy Hawaii coffee, pencils and a lovely handmade sock bag. That is really impressive - the seams are excellent (Did you use a serger?) - and to top it off, a copy of "Charmed Knits." Such a nice treat!



Sorry about the poor photo but this sock yarn if great! Unfortunately, this makes six new skeins of sock yarn acquired since the L&V sock marathon started - and only three pairs knitted. Do you think I can bring my knitting to the new Harry Potter movie?

Okay, I tried to edit that title, but Dobby must be playing with the computer to stop me. Cheryl, You are amazing! I got my AMAZING package from Meg yesterday. I tried to get a photo today, but monsoon season got in the way. Sock Kit Received

I received this wonderful package from April of Hufflepuff yesterday. The yarn is absolutely gorgeous...I can't wait to knit up a pair of socks with it (maybe in time for the new Harry Potter movie next week - better get cracking!!) She also sent some beeswax to make my hands all soft, some cute monogramed stationary, DPNS and a crochet hook. The bag is really cool too. I'm not sure if you can tell in the photo but it's black on the outside with red and gold fabric inside. Thanks again April.

OK I am back from Ireland and have pics to post. I received this lovely kit from Carrie, of CosmicYarns on Etsy.

I have purchased much of her yarn and have steered many others her way. It was funny to receive a package from Carrie containing someone else's yarn!! The yarn is glorious, a beautiful color, apparntly dyed from onions, soft, shiny. The bag is so cool.....I smuggled it in my luggage to Ireland and used the bag but did not get the chance to start the lovely sock pattern that was included. I neglected to put the KP DPN in the pics but there were in the kit as well. BEE YOO TEE FULL stitch markers, a pin and some book plates. Thank you so much Carrie...

Quidditch

Hello!
It's been a loooooooong Saturday. We've been ripping up flooring, entertaining my mother, sister, and niece, and feeding the masses. I'm pooped and now I must go to work.

A glimpse of my swap for Mama Turtle . . .

Here's a glimpse of the HSKS bag I made for Mama Turtle. It's already gone in the mail. I know she's seen the bag because she's visited my blog (Hi, Mama T.!) I forgot to take any other pictures before I bundled it all up and into the mail. I do fear something (maybe, chocolate?) might melt but I gave it a shot anyway. This has been great fun and, now, I can't wait to find a package waiting for me!

Youngest Child made a bit of a mess of the bag but it has straps and handles, one large outer pocket with a decorative button and two inner pockets. It's big so I am expecting Mama Turtle to start lots of socks!

Next Round of HSKS

Hello!
I just wanted to announced that the signups for the second round of HSKS will begin next Monday! Yes, it's that time already. We only have a little more than 2 weeks left of the current swap, and boy, has it been a ride. :) I absolutely LOVE these larger swaps and have such fun putting the packages together. This swap is extra neat because of all the cool HP swag that is available.

Why is this next swap shorter, you ask? I get to go to Mexico in August!! Woot! My church does member missionary trips every year and this year I decided to apply. So, even though sign-ups don't start until Monday you can still head on over to the swap site and grab the logo to put on your site.

The BIG changes for the next HSKS are

• No Weekly Trivia
• Prefects have less responsibility - but there will only be one prefect per house
  
• Only two rounds of Quidditch - Trivia released on a Wednesday and Snitch released on a weekend

I just wanted to apologize for not getting to the update today. We had a disaster at the house. One of the nozzles to our water heater busted and water leaked into my front bathroom and master closet. Had to take everything out, rip up the flooring and set a fan in there for it to dry.

I got my package!!!!

I got my package today!!!!! I was totally jazzed and surprised because I’m just finishing up the bag for my partner, so I didn’t expect mine to get here yet. I am soooo jazzed. I sorted into Hufflepuff, but I’m not a huge fan of yellow. This bag that she made, though, is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love it!

Ansley designed the bag herself. Each side is different. There is a Hufflepuff ‘H’ on one side and a Hogwarts ‘H’ on the side that is showing. LOVE!! She designed a needle holder to go with and included a set of dpns and a crochet needle for the pesky drop stitches. In the package also came a sheep measuring tape, a notepad with a ‘J’ for Jenean on it, two bags of M&M’s which are disappearing even as I type this, adorable stitch markers (two lady bugs and an owl), yarn from Ashabee’s Creations, and the Knit Socks book! Ansley, you are an A-1 swap partner!!!! Awesome! Hearts to you!! :)

Stitch N Pitch

Yesterday, right after I let the snitch go (thank you Jenean for letting me help) I had a short amount of time before class and then... Stitch n Pitch at Dodger Stadium-- the Dodgers won! Anyhow, the night before when Jenean was looking for someone to release the snitch, I found out that she and I were both going to be at the same game!

There was tons of knitting and I finally managed to get my hands on the yarn for the replacement bag for my partner (since my cat stole the other one) and some nice Gryffindor sock yarn in Trekking.

Time to relax again, ladies :) New trivia will not be posted until Sunday. Here are the House Points thus far:

1st Place - Gryffindor - 55%

2nd Place - Ravenclaw - 49%

3rd Place - Hufflepuff - 40%

4th Place - Slytherin - 25%

The race is really between all three of the top Houses. Hufflepuff did find the Snitch, but had low participation in the trivia and pictures. If they had higher participation we would have seen them rise even higher. Gryffindor's participation was also rather low this time around, so it is very possible to steal 1st place by either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff during the next and last round of Quidditch!! Be ready, ladies! The last round will take place June 10th!

Yesterday evening I knitted a small pouch for the stichmarkers, which I "baked" on thursday ;)

I hope my pal like the stichmarkers. On the photo is just one half of them, the others show the initial of my pal and I don´t wan´t to blab myself ;)

hopefully my ravenclaw pal will like it - blue & bronze are hard to find and so i choosed a fabric in blue & sandy. the flowers will be outside and inside the stripes. next weekend i will visit my parents and there will be also a sewing machine to finish the bag. you can see also some stitchmarkers in bronze with blue and silver on the pearls as well as a hand-dyed skein sockyarn.
so my kit isn´t finished at all - some more goodies are missing and i´m planning that it will start the travel in 3 weeks....
